La Boca means "the mouth" and applies to the fact that the original port of Buenas Aires was located here in the mouth of the Riachuelo River. In use since 1635, this port was the disembarking point for the tens of thousands of Italians who immigrated to Argentina.
This is the small, colorful village called La Vuelta de Roca (the Corner) located at the edge of the port. It lays claim to having been the place where the tango originated. It is now a very colorful collection of restaurants, and arts and crafts shops and stands. Tango shows available everywhere.
